I can't recall how or why I first heard Sonny Sharrock. But I do remember closing my eyes and listening to the opening track from 'Black Woman' and feeling like I was levitating. Years later, during a conversation at an Infinite Three rehearsal we were discussing the open-ended topic of musical communication and the quote below came to mind. I got a shirt printed at a local shop with the words "Sonny Sharrock Was Right" to wear onstage as a kind of subtle tribute to Sonny's music and philosophy.
